Measuring

Scientists attempt to capture reality in a series of objective numbers through measurements. Obviously, it is crucial that those measurements are correct, and that researchers are able to compare the results of measurements to those of other scientists or other measurements. A major development in this respect was the international standard system of units, which was established in the late 18th century.
