Fievel is Glauque easily scores an 8 on the scale of remarkable band names, so we will clarify that for you right away: 'Fievel' refers to the cartoon character Fievel Mousekewitz from 'An American Tail' and 'Glauque' is a French adjective that means so much as dark or evil. The name thus reflects the American-French background of this musical duo band and the unusual creative combinations from which their style is based.
Fievel is Glauque operates from Brussels and is the creative collaboration between American musician Zach Phillips, known for Blanche Blanche Blanche, and French singer Ma Clément, both with a rich background in jazz and experimental music.
They are known for their eclectic blend of jazz, electronica, pop and experimental music, characterized by spacious arrangements, playful lyrics and an innovative approach to melody and rhythm. The whole always sounds fresh and accessible, but at the same time courageously breaks through the boundaries of genres.
Laryssa Kim brings hypnotic and surreal soundscapes in which electronics, vocal loops and soulful elements merge. After her debut EP Lov’em all from 2019, her first album Submarine Thoughts followed in 2022. The successor Contezzawas released earlier this year.
The concert series PALMARIUM brings nine evenings of music to the beautiful Botanical Garden of the Ghent University Museum. This series is a collaboration between VIERNULVIER, Kunstmest, Democrazy & GUM&Botanical Garden.
